stolen from AlexiusSanaWhat is the character you've drawn the most? (Can be original or fanart)Wren.
What colour do you often use?Reds or oranges.
Any colour you are bad at using?Purple. Blue, green, dark yellow. Cooler colors I don't like. I think a lot of people don't..?
When drawing people, where do you start?Circle for the head, line for the shoulders and line for the spine. Once I get the basic directions down, I start filling in the shapes and anatomy of the torso to help where the hips and legs would fall, then add simple lines for those. It's sort of a balance between starting with an entire gesture (which for me, loses a lot of proportion) and starting with contour or detail, which can get very stiff.
What is a character only your eraser will love? When I try to draw characters I don't have completeley planned out, I have to redraw them a lot.
Which of your works took the longest time?I don't think I've spend enough time on any of them >_> I hate really finishing things, after I get the idea out, I almost get bored of it.
What techniques do you use when you want to improve in drawing?Lots of sketches and observing other people art. I do a lot of studies, freehand copies, when I'm trying to get something specific down.
What art tools/media are you good with?Photoshop. And I think I'm good with pencil, if I was still interested in super detailed or photorealism. And clay, I like clay.
Art tools/media you are bad at?Anything dust based; charcoal, pastel, crayon... Although, I used to like conte crayon, but I never use it anymore. Watercolors, I'm pretty bad at, actually a lot of paint..
What do you think about your own art?ha. aha.
Do you consult magazines for your drawings?I do use a lot of reference, yes.
What do you like about your art?...
What habits do you have while drawing?I tend to make the same pose or expression. Or do Monk hands when I'm thinking about layout.
Are you good at drawing faces facing right?I am extremely faceblind, so I really have no idea how well I draw faces at all. I'm starting to think I'm pretty bad, but I am working at it. As for approaching drawing someone facing a certain direction, I get sort of stuck in one or the other, like one day I'll only draw things facing left, and the next day it'll be the other way. But even then, I don't have a problem switching if I feel a certain drawing needs to be.
How frequently do you draw?Everyday. This is my goal. Also, I only have two days without some sort of art class, and I usually do homework on those.
What do you do when you have artist's block?I go watch cartoons
What must you have when you draw?Tablet and computer, or pencil, eraser and pencil sharpener <-I'm sort of compulsive about that. I won't draw in pencil without a sharpener nearby.
Do you have a lot of stray lines (messy lineart)?I like to keep lineart cleaner. But in sketching, I use as many lines as I need until it feels right, because I can always erase those.
What is drawing to you?D:< It's a lot of frustration and embarrassment, but it doesn't feel right if I go too long without it.
Your goal from now on?To suck less. I'd like to get more work finished so I can put together a decent portfolio.
Artists you've had influence from?I can't keep track >o<
Artists you like?Uhm, everyone. I have thousands of artwork saved to my computer, for inspiration and for fun. My walls at home are covered in Waterhouse, Bouguereau, Mucha, Franklin Booth, etc. I try to draw on art history as well as current styles.
Which is easier to draw, humans or animals?Humans, I've had more practice and I can reference myself.
Please tell us the title(s) of your own comic(s)Lochside
Show us an old picture.oh god why (from May 2004 o_o)
What is the first thing you would draw if we're talking about fantasy?A bat-person. Or a castle, maybe.
Please draw your most beloved characterimg.photobucket.com/albums/v10… go five minute doodle, go!
When thinking of characters is it mostly female? male? or androgynous/no sex? It's about evenly male/female. I think I only have one gender-neutral character. When designing characters, I like to decide gender early on, but I am willing to change it, if I feel they need it.
What did you draw yesterday?Life drawing gestures.
What is the funnest part to draw?Pfft, drawing isn't fun.
What part of other people's drawings do you notice first?Composition, color, and key.
Regarding backgrounds, what is your method of making it easier to draw?Don't think of it as background; I never draw a character and then try to place them. It's much easier to think of the layout first.
What colour coordinations do you like?Warm!
What character did you last draw?Koda.
Does your style change easily?I have no style, therefore, yes.
What part of drawing do you pay most attention to?It depends on what my focal point of the individual piece is.
How do you feel about drawing H pictures?*cough*
Do you like criticism from others?I love. The meaner, the better. A good critique speeds up improvement so easily.
How many people do you normally draw per artwork?One-two. I think it's too easy to get cluttered with more figures. Also, I am lazy, and like drawing
characters more than drawing
art.
When you were a kid did you think of become illustrator/comic artist/etc? If you did, do you still hold that dream now?I did when I was really little. Now, I hate illustration, and while I would like to do some comics for myself, I would never want to do that for a living.
Ever got your artwork(s) stolen? If so, tell me your experience, how did you handle it?No, not really. I don't know what I would do about it if I did; I'm not great at confronting people ._.
What do you least enjoy drawing?I can hate almost anything if I'm forced to draw it over and over. Like, if a figure drawing class has only five minute drawings and the model does pretty much the same pose over and over, I might not make it thirty minutes, much less the full six hours.
Have you ever thought of giving up drawing?I think about it a lot, yeah, but I really don't know what else I would be able to do. If I give up now, all that time and money will be wasted.
Have you ever been praised/admired for your drawing?Maybe.. I can never tell if it's facetious or not. When people say nice things to me, I assume they are lying to be kind.
